"This is a great way to start off the new year," Williams said.  He purchased his winning ticket at Stop & Save on South MacArthur Drive in Alexandria. 
Williams played his ticket as a "straight/box" set, which meant that his numbers could match the numbers drawn in any order or in exact order to win $2,700.
