Slidell Woman Claims $60,000 Easy 5 Jackpot Prize

Patricia Nelson Conn said she plans to go to Disney World in style after winning the $60,000 Easy 5 jackpot prize in the Jan. 26 drawing.

The 58-year-old Slidell resident's winning Quick Pick numbers were 04-07-08-11-32. Conn admitted that she checked her ticket nearly 20 times to verify she had the winning numbers. She said she even visited the store where she purchased the ticket to see if employees had been informed of a winning ticket being sold there; it wasn't until Conn received their confirmation that she fully believed she won.

"It's a blessing," Conn said when she visited Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge to collect her prize. In addition to the Disney World trip, she said she'll be making a few home repairs as well as putting some money away for retirement.

Conn received $42,000 after federal and state taxes were withheld. She purchased the winning ticket at G G's Drink Shop in Slidell. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $600, which is one percent of the prize.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
