Travis Barnes of Napoleonville had always told his mother that she was dreaming when she would fantasize aloud about what she could do if she won the Lottery. They are doing more than dreaming now that the 21-year-old won the $85,805 Easy 5 jackpot from the Jan. 16 drawing, which he claimed at Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.

Barnes said he plans to use his winnings to purchase a car for himself and move his family to a new house.  He joked that he may even "splurge" on lunch for his family on their ride back to Napoleonville.

Barnes received $60,063 after federal and state taxes were withheld.  He shared that until recently he usually only played Powerball, but he decided to give Easy 5 a try.

Barnes purchased his winning ticket at Diamond Jim's Truck Stop on Highway 1 in Labadieville. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $858 or 1 percent of the jackpot prize. The winning numbers for the Jan. 16 Easy 5 drawing were 5-10-12-19-30.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age.  Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.  Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.  For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
