Shawn Wilkinson sure has a reason to smile after winning $100,000 playing the Louisiana Lottery $5 scratch-off Cash King.

Wilkinson said while he bought a few Powerball tickets for the record jackpot run at the beginning of the month, his favorite Lottery game is scratch-offs. The 24 year old said he’ll be moving soon, so cashing in the big winning ticket came at a perfect time.

“I’m planning to buy a new home with the money,” Wilkinson said.

He purchased his winning ticket at Best Stop Quick Mart #2 on Florida Boulevard in Walker and received $70,000 after federal and state tax withholdings.

Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Scratch-off games are closed when all of the top prizes in a game have been claimed, when all of the tickets in a game have been substantially sold or at the discretion of the Lottery's president. Scratch-off prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the announced closure of the game.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing. More information about other scratch-off winners can be found on the Lottery’s website, louisianalottery.com.
