BATON ROUGE – For the third quarter of fiscal year 2025, the Louisiana Lottery Corporation transferred nearly $45.1 million to the state treasury, down about $1.4 million from last quarter. Total transfers for the three quarters of the year reached $134.1 million, $35.8 million less than last fiscal year, which ended as the Lottery’s second-best finish ever.

“Strong inflationary pressures and jackpot fatigue continue to have an adverse effect on sales this quarter,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “It is taking larger and larger jackpots to gain players’ interest. At the same time, economic uncertainty is also impacting discretionary spending. Even so, the Lottery is continuing to look for ways to add value to players’ purchases with second-chance promotions and partnerships with fun and familiar brands.”

With revenue of $144,253,413, the Lottery’s total third-quarter state transfers were $45,076,420. Since the Lottery began operations in 1991, more than $13.98 billion in revenue has been generated, primarily from ticket sales. Over $4.89 billion has been transferred to the state treasury to support K-12 public education, amounting to about 35% of total revenue.

Retailers earn 5% sales commission, plus incentives for cashing players’ winning tickets and bonuses for selling big winning tickets. For January through March of 2025, retailer compensation totaled over $8.1 million, bringing year-to-date compensation to $24,774,572.

“This summer we are in full swing with our NASCAR Powerball Playoff Promotion for a chance to win a VIP race getaway plus up to $1 million as our Louisiana semifinalist did last year in Phoenix,” said Hudson. “Also, later this month we launch a ‘game night’ family of scratch-offs and Fast Play games featuring the play action and nostalgia of Hasbro’s MONOPOLY®, SCRABBLE® and CLUE™.”

Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Anyone with a gambling problem, or friends of anyone with a gambling problem, is encouraged to call toll-free 1-877-770-7867 for assistance. For security purposes, players should sign the back of their tickets after purchasing.
