BATON ROUGE — Louisiana Lottery Corporation will join lotteries across the United States and Canada in celebrating National Lottery Week, beginning July 14, 2026. This year’s observance carries special significance for Louisiana. The Lottery is marking its 35th anniversary, reflecting on more than three decades of impact for players, retailers, and the state’s K–12 public education system.
Since its founding in 1991, Louisiana Lottery has transferred more than $5 billion to the state treasury in support of Louisiana’s Minimum Foundation Program. That milestone, reached earlier this year, is the centerpiece of the Lottery’s yearlong 35th anniversary celebration, 35 Years of Reasons to Smile.
“When we helped launch the first-ever National Lottery Week in 2019, I said that in Louisiana, we know how to have fun and do good,” said Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson. “Seven years later, that hasn’t changed, but our story has grown. Five billion dollars to Louisiana’s public schools, thousands of retailers who’ve been with us since day one, and millions of players who’ve been part of something bigger than a jackpot. This is Louisiana’s week to celebrate.”
Louisiana Lottery has been a participant in National Lottery Week since its inaugural observance in 2019. The annual celebration was established to recognize the collective contributions lotteries make to their states and communities — from public education and infrastructure to retailer partnerships and player experiences. Nationally, lotteries return an average of 27 percent of revenue to public beneficiaries, with Louisiana consistently ranking among the highest in the country.
This year’s Lottery Week activities will include daily social media content celebrating 35 years of player wins, retailer stories, and community impact; a Lottery Week prize pack giveaway on Facebook; and a dedicated landing page at louisianalottery.com/lottery-week connecting visitors to the full 35th anniversary hub at louisianalottery.com/35years.
The 35th anniversary celebration also includes a lineup of anniversary-themed scratch-off games, including the return of the beloved Play OH! game from 1991 and a second-chance promotion with three separate $35,000 prize drawings, the last of which closes September 28, 2026.
Louisiana Lottery’s Lottery Legacy retailer series, featured on the anniversary hub, highlights retailers who have been selling Louisiana Lottery tickets since the very beginning.
