The Lottery Celebrates Crawfish Season With Launch of Zatarain’s™ Scratch-Off Game

The same one-of-a-kind, flavorful fun that is packed into a Zatarain’s seafood boil can now be found on a Louisiana Lottery scratch-off game, when the new $2 game Boil It Up! launches today.

 “Every year our players look forward to our seasonal crawfish game, making it the perfect opportunity to partner with Zatarain’s and that ‘can’t do without’ essential ingredient that makes a Louisiana boil authentic,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “The Lottery is pleased to bring the brand’s popularity to a scratch-off game, another seasonal essential for having a good time!”

 The Lottery printed 1.4 million Boil It Up! tickets featuring nostalgic graphics from Zatarain’s seafood boil packaging. The game contains over $1 million in cash prizes, including four top prizes of $15,000. Overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 4.45.

 Revenue potential for the game is $2.8 million, 35 percent of which is transferred to the state for K-12 public education as is the case with all Lottery sales.

 To tie in with the crawfish season theme, the Lottery’s $1 Mudbugs game will launch at the same time with top prizes of $3,000.

 “For 130 years, Zatarain’s authentic flavors have been an important part of Louisiana’s cuisine and fun gatherings for every occasion, especially boil season,” said Claude Davis, of Zatarain’s.  “It’s just natural to marry our hometown zeal for good food with another local favorite pastime – playing the Lottery.”

 A web-based promotion for Boil It Up! will run Feb. 25-March 8 on the Lottery’s website, www.louisianalottery.com. To enter, players will be asked to upload a picture of themselves showing both the Boil It Up! ticket and a bottle, bag, box or jar of a Zatarain’s Crawfish, Shrimp & Crab Boil, as well as share what their favorite item is to add to a Zatarain’s boil.

 Five winners will be randomly selected to win a Lottery apron, crawfish tray, $20 in Boil It Up! and Mudbugs scratch-offs as well as a selection of Zatarain’s products. A sixth winner will also receive a set of four club level tickets to the March 26th Pelicans vs. Atlanta Game, including an autographed basketball, pregame arena access to watch players warm up and participate in a pregame presentation.
