St. Martinville Man Wins Final Saints Second-Chance Drawing
Merlin Comeaux wanted to be sure that he wasn't falling for an April Fool's joke after being told he won four sets of Saints 2010 season tickets to watch the Super Bowl champs play in the Dome. A quick glance at the calendar was all the St. Martinville resident needed to convince him that his entry was indeed selected the winner during the Louisiana Lottery's final New Orleans Saints second-chance drawing held April 14.
"I had to stop and think whether or not it was April 1," he said. "Then one of my employees said to me 'no, it's not.' That's when I really believed I'd won."
In addition to the four Plaza Sideline season tickets, Comeaux will also receive a 2010 parking pass, four pre-game field passes, a tour of the Saints practice facility and lunch with the Saints head coach in the team cafeteria for himself and three guests, as well as an autographed football and helmet.
Comeaux, his wife, three children and six grandchildren are all big Saints fans. He said he plans to bring two of his grandsons on the tour and to lunch with him.
"I think my grandsons will be the most excited to meet Coach Payton," said Comeaux.
The Lottery partnered with the New Orleans Saints last fall to produce a team-branded Lottery scratch-off game. Nonwinning tickets from the game could be entered into a series of four second-chance drawings for tickets, autographed merchandise and more, which were administered solely by the Lottery.
Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, help is available by calling 1-877-770-7867. For security purposes, the Lottery encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
