Four Winners Step Forward to Claim Million-Dollar Powerball Prizes from Historic Drawing

BATON ROUGE – Four of the eleven million-dollar-plus Powerball wins from the unprecedented April 29 drawing have been claimed. On Friday, May 1 Larry Sheffield of Marrero claimed his $1 million prize from the Lottery’s headquarters in Baton Rouge, where he took home $730,000 after state and federal tax withholdings.

He purchased his ticket from G-Zone located at 4963 Lapalco Boulevard in Marrero. The store’s owner, Ghassan Jabbar, said selling the ticket was “his dream come true to aid in getting more traffic to his store.”

On May 5, Antonio Bradford of Shreveport claimed his $1 million prize at Lottery headquarters, making him the second claimant from this unique drawing. After state and federal tax withholdings, he went home with $730,000.

He purchased his ticket from Airport Chevron, located at 5203 Monkhouse Drive in Shreveport.

“I really feel so excited and happy for my customers who won; what a blessing to them and their families,” said Airport Chevron Owner Khadka Kumar, who also owns Raceway 6802 in Shreveport which sold a $2 million Powerball prize during the same drawing.

On Wednesday, May 6, Richard Boudreau of Denham Springs became the third winner to step forward and claim his prize. He purchased the $2 million winning ticket from Circle K Store 2706829 in Denham Springs, which also sold another $1 million winning Powerball ticket during the same drawing.

Mr. Boudreau took home $1,460,000 after state and federal tax withholdings.

Finally on Thursday, May 7, the fourth winner visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. Ranjeet Singh of Fresno, CA purchased the $1 million winning ticket from Circle K Store 2706829 while in Denham Springs, taking home $730,000 after state and federal tax withholdings.

The winning numbers for the April 29 drawing were 03-19-35-51-67, and the red Powerball number was 15.

Both G-Zone and Airport Chevron will receive a $10,000 bonus, or 1% of the prize amount, for selling the tickets. Circle K 2706829 will receive a $20,000 bonus for selling the $2 million winning ticket and a $10,000 bonus for the $1 million ticket.

“We would like to congratulate all of our winners from this once-in-a-lifetime drawing, and we can’t wait to see who else comes forward to claim the other prizes,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson.

The Louisiana Lottery encourages all players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing to protect their claim. Winning tickets for draw-style games must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing date.
