Building on the excitement and popularity of the multistate, multimillion-dollar-jackpot, draw-style game, the Louisiana Lottery brought the Powerball brand to a scratch-off game last spring offering Louisiana players the opportunity to enter nonwinning tickets into two semifinalist drawings where national finalists will be selected for unique trip experiences plus the chance to win $1 million.

As a participating lottery in the national NASCAR Powerball Playoff promotion, 22 Louisiana semifinalists will be entered into a national drawing to select 16 national semifinalists on Aug. 12 with no more than one from each participating lottery. Those 16 semifinalists will be announced on Aug. 26 at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 in Daytona to go head-to-head in a series of four additional drawings that coincide with the elimination rounds during the NASCAR Playoffs.

The series of drawings culminates with four finalists receiving a four-day/three-night VIP NASCAR Trip experience prize for themselves and a guest to the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Weekend Race Nov. 3-5, during which one of the four finalists will win $1 million during a special televised drawing from Phoenix Raceway. Cash prizes of $2,500 to $1 million will be awarded to all 16 national semifinalists based on their elimination position.

Louisiana semifinalists are: Donna Collins of Iowa, Mary Kline of Reserve, DeiDria Hazure of New Orleans, Laura Motte of Youngsville, Jimmy Duhon of Broussard, Brian Prejean of Port Allen, Michael Ambrose of LaPlace, Patricia Shackelford of Slidell, Mark Chambers of Folsom, Sandra Phelps of Sulphur, Perry Ferraro of Brusly, Clara Miller of Hammond, Keith Gibson, Sr. of Baton Rouge, Emma King of  Maringouin, Beverly Peterson of Plaquemine, Barbara Fuller of Baton Rouge, Samuel Jones of Shreveport, Anna Scherther of Houma, Angela Mouton of Abbeville, Dale LeBlanc of Scott, Linda Steltz of Kenner, and Cassandra Mullins of Baton Rouge.

“With Powerball as the Official Lottery Game of NASCAR, we are extremely pleased to have given Louisiana players a chance to be part of the race-day excitement,” noted Lottery President Rose Hudson. “We wish our semifinalists the best of luck in the upcoming NASCAR Powerball Playoff Promotion drawing rounds!”

The next second-chance promotion for the Powerball scratch-off game is the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year promotion, in which five national finalists will receive VIP trips to New York City to appear live on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest for the chance to win $1 million right after midnight.

As a participating lottery in the national Powerball First Millionaire of the Year promotion, Louisiana will receive 25 semifinalist entries out of all national entries from participating lotteries.

The Finalist VIP trip includes round-trip, coach-class airline transportation for two, three nights hotel accommodations at a Times Square hotel, a private NYC excursion and entertainment experience, a VIP New Years Eve dinner and entertainment with other Finalists and their guests plus two gift bags, all meals while in NYC including a welcome dinner, $1,000 spending money and ground transportation to all experience activities as well as a chance to win $1 million.

To enter, players should complete the back of one nonwinning Louisiana Lottery $2 Powerball scratch-off (game #1477) and mail it by Oct. 2, 2023, in an envelope no larger than 4.5” x 9.5” to:
