Leonard Webb of Harvey went to work on April 17 like every other day.  That was until a co-worker told him that the winning Lotto jackpot ticket was sold in Harvey.  He rushed home to check his tickets and realized that he had the winning numbers.  Webb, age 49, claimed the $789,597 Lotto jackpot at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation headquarters from the April 7 drawing.

"I woke up my daughter and told her to recheck the numbers for me.  Then I called my other daughter and told her to come over and check the numbers again for me," he said.

Webb said he plays Lotto and Powerball every Wednesday and Saturday.  He admitted that sometimes he forgets to check his tickets.  "That's why it was so long before I knew I won," said Webb.  He said he always purchases "quick pick" tickets, meaning he lets the Lottery terminal randomly select his numbers.

He received $552,747 after federal and state income taxes were withheld. Webb plans to finish paying for his daughters' cars and put some money towards his retirement.  He is the second Lotto jackpot winner in 2007.

He purchased his winning jackpot ticket at Circle K #8295 on LaPalco Boulevard in Harvey. The store will receive a one-time bonus of $7,895, or one percent of the jackpot, for selling Webb his winning ticket. The winning numbers for the April 7 Lotto drawing were 4-7-11-12-13-29.

Webb also won with another set of numbers on the same ticket.  He matched four of the six numbers drawn to win $42.

Lottery draw-style game players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their winnings.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. The Lottery encourages anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867.
