Haltom City, Texas resident Denson Stasher was on a road-trip through Louisiana when he made a quick stop at Rayville U-Pak-It in Rayville to change his daughter’s diaper. Little did he realize that two days later, he’d be back in Louisiana to claim a $404,305 Louisiana Lottery Easy 5 jackpot prize.
During his initial visit, Stasher had purchased two Lotto and two Easy 5 tickets, on one of which matched all five numbers – 04-09-16-31-34 – in the Dec. 2 Easy 5 drawing.
“I knew I was seeing things when I looked at the winning numbers. I had to close and reopen the website!” Stasher shared. The 30-year-old traveled with his family back to the Lottery’s Monroe office on Dec. 4 to claim the jackpot prize and received $283,013.50 after state and federal tax withholdings. He said he plans to use his winnings to help family in need.
Rayville U-Pak-It received $4,043, which is 1 percent of the prize, as a bonus for selling the winning ticket.
