Baton Rouge Resident Claims $1.1 Million Lotto Jackpot

When Roy Carter of Baton Rouge checked last Saturday's Lotto drawing results, he was surprised to find he matched all six numbers. Carter claimed the $1,132,317 Lotto jackpot at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation headquarters from the Feb. 17 drawing.
"I almost gave up on playing the Lottery, but I'm glad I didn't," he said.
Carter said he consistently plays Lotto, Pick 4, Cash Quest and Powerball using his own number combinations. Before winning the Lotto jackpot, Carter said he'd also won playing Pick 4.
He received $792,622 after federal and state income taxes were withheld. Carter said he plans to build a house with a swimming pool and purchase a new car.
He purchased his winning jackpot ticket at S & P Food Store on Gardere Lane in Baton Rouge. The store will receive a one-time bonus of $11,323, or one percent of the jackpot, for selling Carter his winning ticket.
