Lake Charles Man Wins $1.5 million Lotto Jackpot

Jerry Simien from Lake Charles stepped forward last week to claim the $1,512,216 Louisiana Lottery Lotto jackpot prize won in the May 18 drawing.The 45-year-old received $1,058,551.20 after state and federal tax withholdings. He said he plans to put the money away for retirement. The ticket was purchased at City Food and Liquor in Lake Charles. The store received a one-time selling bonus of $15,122.16, which is 1 percent of the jackpot prize. “We’re excited for the money and hope to sell more tickets now,” said Gurmesh Thind, City Food and Liquor owner. “People know we sold the ticket so they have been coming in. Our sales might increase from that; that’s what I’m hoping for.Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing.
