New Orleans Resident Wins Trip of a Lifetime & Chance to Win $1 Million as Louisiana Lottery’s 2024 NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ Finalist
What began for Meagan Lewis as a nonwinning $5 Powerball ticket has turned into the trip of a lifetime! After entering the Louisiana Lottery’s 2024 NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ Promotion earlier this summer, the New Orleans resident cleared the state and national semifinalist drawings AND survived three elimination round drawings to win a weekend VIP trip to Phoenix for a chance at a $1 million prize announced at the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race™ Nov. 10.
Lewis along with three other finalists from Delaware, North Carolina and South Carolina won a four-day/three-night VIP NASCAR Championship Weekend™ Prize Pack experience prize for themselves and a guest. The experience includes round-trip airfare for two, three-night hotel accommodations double occupancy, two Ally Curve Hospitality Club passes for both the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race on Nov. 9 and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race on Nov. 10, two passes for VIP Experiences at Phoenix Raceway during the weekend including tours, pace car rides, and Victory Lane access, souvenir gift bags valued at $250, welcome dinner and all meals, and ground transportation to scheduled events and activities.
During pre-race coverage starting at 1 p.m., one of the four finalists will win $1 million during a special televised drawing on NBC, while the other three will walk away with $10,000 each.
“This is one of the things the Louisiana Lottery does best! Provide loyal players like Meagan a BIG reason to smile with once-in-a-lifetime experiences,” said Lottery President Rose Hudson. “Everyone at the Lottery will be sitting on the edge of our seats rooting Meagan on to win the $1 million prize during the championship race!”
A TV/film production professional, Lewis is also a long-time race fan who’s visited speedways in Dover, New Hampshire, Talladega and California. In fact, she used to race late model cars on dirt tracks growing up in Maryland.
“All of this is a dream,” said the 47-year-old who couldn’t decide whether watching a NASCAR race from a hospitality suite or on the track was better. “That’s a trick question. There’s a better view of the whole track from above, but I like the sounds and smells trackside.”
Lewis learned about the promotion playing Powerball, another favorite pastime. It’s her favorite Lottery game, and she likes to play at least once a week. As her guest, Lewis is bringing her mom along.
Fans can also track highlights from Lewis’ experience by following the Louisiana Lottery on Facebook, Instagram and X, as well as the NASCAR Powerball Playoff™ Promotion on Facebook and Instagram.
