Louisiana Lottery Players Win Big During Powerball Drawing

More than 100,000 Louisiana Lottery players will cash in on prizes won in the $564.1 million Powerball drawing on Feb. 11 – the third largest in the game’s history – including one $1 million match-5 winner, for a total of more than $1.6 million in prize money. Three tickets sold in Texas, North Carolina and Puerto Rico will split the jackpot prize. The winning numbers were 11-13-25-39-54 and the Powerball number was 19.

Matching all five white-ball numbers but missing the red Powerball number, Louisiana's $1 million-winning Powerball ticket was purchased at Now Save #7 on Forsythe Avenue in Monroe. The store will receive a bonus of $10,000, which is 1 percent of the prize, for selling that ticket. During the entire jackpot run, which began Nov. 29, three $1 million-winning tickets were sold in Louisiana.

In addition, there were three winning tickets matching four of the five white-ball numbers, including one with the Power Play that increased the usual $10,000 prize to $30,000 when the Power Play multiplier 3X was selected during Wednesday’s drawing. The $10,000 prize-winning tickets were sold at Super S on Roy Road in Shreveport and Super Stop Supermarket on Fourth Street in Westwego. The $30,000 prize-winning ticket was sold at Bernard’s Seafood Express on Bryan Street in Cottonport. During the entire jackpot run, 15 match-4 plus the Powerball winning tickets were sold in Louisiana.

In other drawings held last night, an Easy 5 jackpot-winning ticket worth $110,784 was sold at Save Max on S. Flannery Road in Baton Rouge.

Players should sign the back of their ticket immediately after purchasing for security purposes and treat their tickets like cash. After the drawing, winners have 180 days to claim their prizes. Louisiana Lottery retailers are required to pay prizes of $50 or less and are strongly encouraged to pay prizes of up to $600. Prizes of more than $600 must be claimed at a Lottery office; Powerball prizes of more than $510,000 must be claimed at the Lottery's headquarters in Baton Rouge.

Yesterday alone, more than $4.7 million worth of Powerball tickets were sold in Louisiana; Louisiana Lottery sales for the entire jackpot run totaled nearly $27.8 million. At least 35 percent of all Louisiana Lottery ticket sales is transferred to the state and dedicated to the Minimum Foundation Program, which funds K-12 public education in Louisiana.
