Covington Resident Claims $10,000 Powerball Prize

Philip Blanchard Jr. of Covington had a reason to smile after he claimed a $10,000 Powerball prize at the Lottery's New Orleans office.

"It feels great to win," said Blanchard.  "It happened at a perfect time for me."

Blanchard's ticket matched four of the white ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000. The winning numbers for the April 23 Powerball drawing were 03-11-47-48-58 and the Powerball number was 19.

Blanchard, age 49, purchased his winning ticket from Kangaroo Express #3764 on Highway 59 in Mandeville.  He plans to use his winnings to pay bills.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. The Lottery encourages anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
