Luck was on his side when Jonathon T. Carter of Houma convinced his girlfriend, Daphne Thomas, to choose a different Lottery scratch-off game than she had planned.  In fact, he won $10,000 as a result, and claimed the winning Cash Blowout ticket at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's New Orleans office today.

"Daphne was just going to purchase a $1 scratch-off, but I told her that we had a better chance with the $10 ticket," said Carter, age 22.  "So I bought this ticket and I won!"  He purchased his winning ticket at Plantation Truck Plaza & Casino on  Highway 311 in Houma. Carter said the couple plans to use the winnings to get a new apartment.

One of two $10 games the Lottery currently offers, Cash Blowout has two remaining top prizes as of Dec. 8, over $5 million in total cash prize and the chance to win up to 20 times on each ticket.
