New Orleans Resident First Easy 5 Jackpot Winner
Disbelief was all that Barbara D. Henderson of New Orleans felt when she realized that her Easy 5 ticket matched all five numbers from the Oct. 3 drawing. Henderson claimed the $151, 908 jackpot prize Monday at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's New Orleans office.
"I checked and checked the ticket before I would even tell my family," said Henderson, age 56. She purchased her winning ticket at Algiers Sav-A-Center on General De Gaule Drive in New Orleans. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $1,519 or one percent of the jackpot.
The winning numbers for the Oct. 3 Easy 5 drawing were 7-11-12-20-32.
Henderson said that she will use her winnings to help pay her daughter's college expenses. "I will just use my winnings for practical things, nothing out of the ordinary," she added.
Henderson's win marked the first time the Easy 5 jackpot has been won since the Lottery launched the new draw-style game on Sept. 16. Easy 5 drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Players can win a prize by matching as few as two numbers. For a limited time and for an additional $1, players can add ezmatch to their Easy 5 ticket for the chance to win up to $250 instantly.
