The Louisiana Lottery is bringing back the Power Play 10X promotion.  Powerball players who purchase the Power Play option on their ticket for drawings during the month of April will have the chance to multiply any nonjackpot-related winnings up to 10 times.

During the Powerball drawing, a Power Play number is randomly selected from a 16-slot wheel, which is typically numbered with equal slots of 2, 3, 4 and 5.  During the 10X promotion, one of the "5s" on the wheel will be replaced with a "10." Any nonjackpot-related prize won by Power Play purchasers are multiplied by the Power Play number selected for that drawing.

For example, if the "10" is selected, match-5 winners who purchased the Power Play option would win $2 million, or 10 times the usual $200,000 prize, for matching five white ball numbers drawn but missing the Powerball number.

The promotion will run April 1 - 28, 2007, no matter how many times the "10" is selected on the Power Play wheel. However, if the "10" is not selected during that time period, the promotion will be extended until it is selected once.

Power Play does not apply to the jackpot prize or to the Match-5 Bonus Prize when in effect. Adding the Power Play option to a Powerball ticket costs an additional $1 per play.
