How to Play

How to Play

HOW TO PLAY

1.  Choose one of the three following options to play Mega Millions®:
    1. On a Mega Millions playslip, mark five numbers from 1 through 75 and one yellow Mega Ball number from 1 through 15, using black or blue ink only. You can play up to five different sets of numbers on each playslip (A - E). Each Mega Millions play costs $1.

    2. Mark the Quick Pick (QP) box to have your Mega Millions numbers randomly generated for you on each board (A-E). A Mega Millions playslip lets you choose Quick Pick for the first set of numbers, the Mega Ball number or both sets of numbers.

    3. Ask the retailer for a Quick Pick for your Mega Millions numbers - up to 10 plays on one ticket.
2.  You may play the same sets of numbers for 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, or 20 consecutive drawings by marking the appropriate MULTIDRAW box on the playslip. Or, when purchasing a Mega Millions Quick Pick, ask the retailer for the number of drawings you want to play, up to 20 drawings.

3.  Add Megaplier®! For an extra $1 per board per draw, mark the MEGAPLIER box to multiply any nonjackpot prize won by the Megaplier number (2, 3, 4 or 5) randomly selected at the time of the drawing. Or, ask the retailer for the Megaplier when purchasing a Quick Pick ticket.

Check your playslip carefully! Mega Millions tickets cannot be canceled.

How Megaplier Works

At the time of each Mega Millions drawing, a Megaplier number of 2, 3, 4 or 5 is drawn from a weighted field of 15 numbers (two 2s, four 3s, three 4s and six 5s). Mega Millions prizes, except for the jackpot prize are multiplied by that number. For example, if you win the $1 million Mega Millions prize and the Megaplier is X5, your prize becomes $5 million!

Jackpot Prize

The advertised Mega Millions jackpot represents an estimate of the annuity amount, which is paid in 30 graduated annual installments that increase each year by a percentage set out in the Mega Millions game directive. The first installment is paid at the time the prize is claimed. Winners also have the option to take a one-time lump sum cash payment equal to the amount of money that would have been invested to provide the 30-installment annuity option. The cash value of the jackpot prize is available on the Mega Millions website.

Jackpot prizes will be available for payment after the 15th calendar day following the drawing, and winners have 60 days from the date of claim to decide on a payment option. Jackpot prizes are pari-mutuel and are divided equally among all jackpot-winning tickets. In accordance with game rules, all set prizes and Megaplier prizes may become pari-mutuel if claims exceed available prize funds. All prize payments are subject to federal and state withholding as required by law.

THE DRAWING

Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday in Atlanta, Georgia at 10 p.m. CST and are aired live on Official Lottery Show TV stations (with the exception of WVUE-FOX 8 in New Orleans where they air during the first commerical break of the hour.)

Make sure you buy your tickets for each Mega Millions drawing by 9 p.m. on the day of the drawing. Tickets purchased after 9 p.m. on drawing nights will be valid for the next drawing(s). and are updated on this website.
