Years of Powerball Play Pays for Amelia Man

Carlo Gagliano of Amelia vigilantly purchased a single Powerball ticket every Saturday for years.  After breaking his routine and purchasing his ticket on a Thursday, Gagliano was shocked to learn he'd won $10,000 from the March 5 drawing.

"I always dreamed of winning Powerball," shared Gagliano, age 67.  "I just never thought it would actually happen to me."

Gagliano's ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn plus the red Powerball number to win $10,000.

He purchased his winning ticket from Ganaway's #2 on Service Road in Amelia.   Gagliano said he has no immediate plans for his winnings. 

The winning numbers for the March 5 Powerball drawing were 02-23-31-42-48 and the Powerball number was 21.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. The Lottery encourages anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help. For security purposes, the Lottery also suggests that players sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
