Melvin Morgan wins $100,000 playing High Voltage Cash
"I could barely sleep last night!" Winner Melvin Morgan divulged. "I signed the back of my ticket and slept with it in my pillow case." Melvin and his two sisters made the trip to Lottery Headquarters in Baton Rouge, first thing on Friday morning, Sept. 14, after realizing his win the night before.Melvin said he purchased five or so scratch-offs from Amite River Food Mart in Prairieville. Before leaving the store, he sat down to play them, first winning a free ticket on one, $50 on another, and then the top prize on High Voltage Cash! "At first I thought I won $100, but then I saw those extra zeros and just screamed." Melvin recalled with a smile, "everyone in the store stopped and looked up at me." As a victim of the Great Flood of 2016, the Port Vincent resident plans to make his new $100,000 really count. In addition to paying off his property loan, getting dental work and a family member a vehicle, Melvin plans to finally finish remodeling his home. Congratulations!
