Longtime Lottery player Gerald Morrison of Thibodaux has been playing since the Louisiana Lottery’s very first draw.
Morrison has been a fan from the beginning. His favorite retailer, A-1 Farms on Highway 70 Spur in Plattenville, doesn’t only know him by name. They know his regular numbers too.
Morrison bought his winning Powerball ticket on July 9 from A-1 Farms adding the Power Play option for just an extra dollar and went on about his regular routine.
It wasn’t until the evening of Friday, July 25, that the good news came to light.
His wife, Janelle, noticed the ticket still hanging on their refrigerator and decided to check the numbers. Her eyes widened, growing larger as she read out each number realizing her husband matched four of the five white ball numbers and the Powerball number. The couple trembled with excitement as the realization set in.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Morrison said. “I never thought I’d hit $100,000 in my lifetime.”
When asked what his plans are for his winnings, Morrison shared that he’s in the market for a new truck and he’s also setting aside a little something for his two grandchildren, who were just as thrilled about the win.
