Just one hour before pulling into Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge, Donald “Joe” Blalock of Denham Springs went to Circle K on Walker Road N. in Walker to cash in a few winning Lottery tickets he had in his car.  

He claimed $16 in winnings and used that money to purchase a $1 Doubloon Doubler scratch-off and a few $3 Area Codes scratch-offs. After scratching each ticket, with each of them not yielding any winnings, he finally got to the last Area Codes scratch-off. 

“This one is going to be a $5,000 winner!” his friend said as Joe began scratching. 

His friend was only partially right. The final scratch-off was indeed a winner, but not for $5,000… it was a $50,000 top prize winner! 

In complete shock, the two sped over to Lottery headquarters to cash in the ticket. 

When asked what he’d do with his winnings, he said he’d pay off a bit of debt and buy a few belated Christmas gifts.  

Joe is excited to go into the new year with 50,000 new reasons to smile!
