Debra Resendiz of Geismar was on her way to a concert when she stopped at the Racetrac on W. Hwy. 30 in Gonzales. While there, she decided to purchase an Easy 5 ticket with EZ Match for the June 14 drawing, which is her normal practice.
“I only play Easy 5 with EZ match,” she said.
However, the cashier accidentally gave her an Easy 5 ticket without EZ match, so Debra chose to keep the incorrect ticket and purchase a new one, with EZ match.
In a stroke of luck, the ticket without EZ match was the $60,000 jackpot winner!
“My mouth was open for a good five minutes!” Debra laughed, recounting the moment she realized her ticket was a winner.
After the realization set in, Debra decided to go back to the store and give a little something to the cashier who sold her the winning ticket.
“I was just blessed, so I wanted to bless someone else. If she hadn’t given me the wrong ticket, I wouldn’t have won!” Debra said.
