Mandeville Man Wins $2.4 Million Lotto Jackpot

After picking up roadside trash as part of a community volunteer effort, Ronald Myers stopped by the Circle K store on Highway 59 in Mandeville to make quick change of a $100 bill by purchasing five Louisiana Lottery Lotto quick picks for the April 9 drawing.

The long-time player would usually use his children’s birthdays to choose his numbers, but he was in a hurry this time. Little did he know that this quick trip would change his life to the tune of $2.4 million dollars.

The next morning, once he discovered his Lotto numbers matched all six in the previous evening’s drawing, he patiently waited for his wife of 35 years, Laurie, to wake up.

“You’re not going to believe this,” he told her.

“Did we win the Lotto?” she asked jokingly.

The couple checked the ticket several times before the reality set in — they won the $2,445,468 Lotto jackpot!

The couple claimed their prize at Lottery Headquarters in Baton Rouge on April 25, taking home $1,785,196.02 after state and federal tax withholdings.

The winning numbers for the April 9 drawing were 04-07-23-34-38-39.

Myers said he plans to invest the money back into his business, ChillCo, Inc., and pay it forward. The couple also plans to splurge on upgrading their upcoming Disneyland trip.

Circle K Store #2723764, which sold Myers his winning ticket, will receive a selling bonus of 1% of the prize or $24,454.68.
