Lucky Penny Helps Rayne Man Win $10,000

When Mickey Meche of Rayne spotted a penny underneath his truck at Valero Corner Store #1731, he had a feeling it might bring him luck, so the 33-year-old decided to purchase some Powerball tickets.  

"There was an ATM inside, so I went in the store and got $20," explained Meche.  "I rubbed my lucky penny on the money and then bought three Powerball tickets with it." 

A few days later when Meche stopped at a convenience store for a drink, he noticed the Lottery winning numbers report on the counter and remembered his "lucky" Powerball tickets. 

"I had my ticket with me, so I compared my numbers to the report," shared Meche.  "Then my heart started beating really fast."

Meche's ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000.

He purchased his winning ticket from Valero Corner Store #1731 on Kaliste Saloom in Lafayette. 

Meche shared that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.

The winning numbers for the May 19 Powerball drawing were 02-07-29-55-58 and the Powerball number was 27.
