BATON ROUGE – Louisiana scratch-off players took home over $17 million in cash prizes in September, including a $500,000 Casino Cash top prize sold in Alexandria. The Lottery reported more than $11 million won during drawings held in September, including one Easy 5 jackpot prize totaling $223,475. Fast Play players also won nearly $900,000 last month.
Draw-Style Game Prizes
Powerball prizes totaled $1,246,839, with an additional $1,430,896 won by players purchasing the Power Play option, for a total of $2,677,735 in winnings. The $1 Power Play option gives Powerball players the chance to increase any non-jackpot winnings.
Mega Millions drawings held in September produced $651,916 in winnings.
There were 107 match-5 Lotto prizes won totaling $107,000, helping to bring Lotto’s monthly total winnings to $509,927. Easy 5 prizes totaled $344,546, including one jackpot win, with an additional $90,288 won on ezmatch™, an instant-win option available for an additional $1.
In total, draw-style game winnings from drawings held in September were $11,192,412. Players have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the winnings from those tickets.
The Lottery encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing and check them promptly after the drawing. Even if a ticket does not win the jackpot, it could have won another prize.
Scratch-Off and Fast Play Prizes
In addition to the $17,201,399 in scratch-off cash prizes paid during September, players also claimed $2,054,006 worth of free-ticket prizes. According to Lottery policy, scratch-off games are closed when all top prizes are claimed, and scratch-off players have 90 days from the official game closure date to redeem a winning ticket. A list of current scratch-off games, prizes remaining and claim deadlines can be found on its website, www.louisianalottery.com/scratch-offs.
Players of the Lottery’s instant-win terminal Fast Play games won $891,051 in prizes in September. Fast Play winning tickets can be claimed up to 90 days following the closure of the game. A list of current Fast Play games, prizes, winnings and claim deadlines can be found on the Lottery’s website: www.louisianalottery.com/fast-play.
Revenue Distribution
While actual game performance and the amount of prizes claimed will vary from month to month, the Lottery allocated 58.2% of revenue to fund prizes in fiscal year 2025. Approximately 31% of revenue was transferred to the state treasury for the Minimum Foundation Program that funds K-12 public education in Louisiana. Retailers were paid 5.6% compensation, and less than 5% was used to operate the Lottery.
