Houma Resident Claims $250,000 Mega Millions Prize

When Harold Quick Jr. of Houma claimed his $250,000 Mega Millions prize from the March 23 drawing at Louisiana Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with the winnings – build a house.

Still-shocked, the 31-year-old shared that he's been hoping to move his family out of their current home for some time. "I want to build a house so my three kids can each have their own room," added Quick, who was accompanied by his father and stepmother.

Quick's ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, but missed the yellow Mega Ball number, to win $250,000. Quick received $175,000 after federal and state taxes were withheld. The winning numbers for the March 23 drawing were 06-17-19-20-21 and the Mega Ball was 20.

Quick purchased his winning ticket from Go Bears #40 on East Bayou Road in Thibodaux.  The retailer will receive a selling bonus of $2,500, or 1 percent of the prize, for selling Quick his winning ticket.

When asked what his next plan of action was, the hardworking construction worker had a simple answer-head back to work.
