Sharon Harrell is going house hunting. The 50-year-old Erath resident claimed a $40,000 Powerball prize from the Feb. 25 drawing at the Louisiana Lottery's Lafayette regional office.
"It feels great to win! It hasn't sunk in yet," she said, adding that she plans to use her winnings to purchase a house.
Harrell's ticket matched four of the five white-ball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number to win $10,000. Because she added the Power Play option to her ticket for an additional $1, her prize was multiplied by four when the Power Play number "4" was selected during the drawing, bringing her total winnings to $40,000.
She purchased her winning ticket from Racetrac Petroleum, Inc. #487 on Northeast Evangeline Thruway in Lafayette.
The winning numbers for the Feb. 25 Powerball drawing were 17-32-42-49-56 and the Powerball number was 11.
