Thomas P. Hays of West Monroe was the first to claim an $11,000 top prize from a Chips & Salsa scratch-off ticket at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's Monroe office.

"This is enough money to make you feel great!" said Hays, age 44.   He said he has previously won playing scratch-off games before and that he plans to save his winnings.  Hays purchased his winning ticket at J Mart on Arkansas Street in West Monroe.

With over $1.2 million in total cash prizes, Chips & Salsa is a $2 game that offers players the chance to win up to 10 times on each ticket.  It has four remaining top prizes as of April 15.

Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age.
