Michael D. Brakefield of Bastrop claimed a $100,000 top prize from a $100,000 Payout scratch-off at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's Monroe office.
"The ticket was waving at me so I had to buy it," he explained. "Well, actually the fan in the store was blowing, causing it to move -- but I'm glad it got my attention." Brakefield, age 60, purchased his winning ticket at Sterlington U-Pak-It in West Sterlington.
$100,000 Payout is the newest of seven Lottery $5 scratch-off games currently on sale. The game offers the chance to win up to 17 times on each ticket and has four top prizes remaining as of Sept. 12.
Persons must be at least 21 years of age to purchase a Lottery ticket. The Lottery encourages anyone who has a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll-free 1-877-770-7867.
