Seeing is Believing for Baton Rouge Easy 5 Jackpot Winner

Baton Rouge resident Aubrey Nolan received a pleasant surprise on March 10 while checking an Easy 5 ticket that he believed to be a match-4 $100 winner. However, his fortune became clearer after he put on his glasses to reveal the fifth number on his ticket was also a match, winning him the $179,304 jackpot.

“I was shocked!” Nolan exclaimed.  He said he immediately informed his wife of the good news, recalling, “We were both in disbelief and thought it was a mistake.”

The frequent Lottery player purchased his winning quick-pick ticket for the March 9 drawing at Baker Shell on Main Street. The store will receive a one-time bonus of $1,793.04, which is 1 percent of the prize, for selling the jackpot winning ticket.

Nolan claimed his prize at Louisiana Lottery headquarters on March 11, receiving $127,305 after state and federal tax withholdings. Though he isn’t certain yet what he will do with the bulk of his prize, Nolan said that a portion will go towards “fixing things around the house.”
