Joyce Breaud of Kiln, Miss. claimed a $50,000 prize at the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's New Orleans office as a result of a winning Powerball ticket from the March 10 drawing. Breaud purchased the $1 Power Play option on her ticket, meaning she won five times the usual $10,000 prize when the Power Play multiplier "5" was selected during the drawing.
Breaud's ticket matched four white balls drawn plus the red Powerball to win her prize.
"We were jumping up and down like crazy," she said. "I am going to keep playing because you have to play to win!" Breaud, age 62, purchased her winning ticket at Riverside Travel Center on Pump Slough Road in Pearl River.
During the month of April, the Lottery will replace one of the "5s" on the Power Play wheel with a "10." The Power Play 10X promotion will run April 2-28, 2006, or until the "10" is selected once.
