Tenth Louisiana Powerball Jackpot Ticket Sold in Cut Off

A single ticket purchased in Cut Off, La., won the $15 million Powerball jackpot Saturday night, bringing Louisiana's total jackpot winners to 10, since the Louisiana Lottery joined the game in 1995.
The winning ticket was sold at Debra's Movie World of Cut Off, which will receive a one-time selling bonus of $25,000. The winning numbers for the Sept. 30 draw were
6-15-30-32-39 and the Powerball was 5.
In addition to the $15 million jackpot, over 20,000 players won more than $215,000 in other Louisiana Powerball prizes in Saturday's drawing. One player who purchased a Powerball ticket and won $10,000 also purchased the Power Play option, which multiplies nonjackpot-related winnings up to five times. Since Saturday's Power Play number was "5," that players winnings totaled $50,000.
"The Powerball jackpot was hit three drawings in a row, beginning on Sept. 23," said Lottery President Rose Hudson. "Obviously, we're excited that one of those wins happened in Louisiana."
The holder of Saturday's winning jackpot ticket has 180 days after the date of the drawing in which to claim the $15 million prize, which is subject to federal and state withholding taxes.
According to the Lottery, the advertised Powerball jackpot represents an estimate of the annuity amount, which is paid in 30 graduated installments that increase by 4 percent each year. The first installment is paid at the time the prize is claimed. Winners also have the option to take a one-time lump sum payment equal to the cash value of the jackpot prize pool, which is $7,253,384.91 for the Sept. 30 drawing. The winner has up to 60 days after claiming the prize to decide on the prize payment option.
"We look forward to the winner claiming the prize, which must be claimed at our corporate office in Baton Rouge. In the meantime, the winner should treat the ticket as cash," said Hudson. "The Lottery also recommends that winners seek professional financial advice before claiming multi-million-dollar prizes."
