The Lottery celebrated the Fourth of July with a record-breaking crowd at the 2013 ESSENCE FestivalTM Presented by Coca-Cola. Over 500,000 people attended this year's festival, which was the largest crowd in the festival's 19-year history.

During the event fans got in on the action by visiting the Lottery's booth in the ESSENCE® Marketplace & Art Expo July 5-7 at the New Orleans Convention Center. Players who purchased at least $5 worth of Lottery tickets received free Lottery goodies!

In June, Facebook fans were invited to enter the Lottery's ESSENCE Festival Stars & Stripes Challenge for a chance to win two tickets to see music artists Beyonce, TGT and Janelle Monae Sunday, July 7 at the 2013 ESSENCE FestivalTM Presented by Coca-Cola in New Orleans. Entrants were asked three trivia questions about the Lottery. Those who answered correctly were entered into a drawing to win the tickets. Mandy Sam of Lake Charles was selected as the winner on June 18. Sam said she and her guest Alicia Allison had a wonderful time.
