By-Appointment-Only at Lottery Claims Offices to Begin Monday

In the matter of a week, the impact of COVID-19 on our day-to-day personal lives and business situations has reached unprecedented proportions in Louisiana.

At the Lottery, the safety and health of our employees, players and retail partners has been and will continue to be our highest priority, as we all do our part to combat this virus in our state.

On March 13, the Governor issued a proclamation with initiatives to curb the spread of COVID-19. One part of these efforts called for minimizing face-to-face interactions at state buildings.

One way that the Lottery has addressed this recommendation is by implementing telecommuting for much of our workforce, which employs special technologies that allow us to continue collaboration and management of operations.

We have also implemented social distancing at our distribution center to continue to fulfill instant ticket orders to retailers who remain open for business and in our headquarters and regional offices where we are operating with fewer staff on-site.

As an additional precaution, beginning Monday March 23, the Lottery made the very difficult decision to make its locations available to the public on a by-appointment-only basis.

Players wishing to claim winning tickets of $600 or more can contact a Prize Payment representative at 225- 297-2130 for information on scheduling an appointment.

For all other prizes, players should visit www.louisianalottery.com/claim for more information on ways to claim. While winning tickets can be claimed by mail, the Lottery reminds players that by law, an original ticket is required for prize payment and therefore there is no recourse for tickets lost in transit.

The Lottery recognizes and regrets the inconvenience this new method may cause our players with tickets winning a large amount. In these uncertain times, the ultimate goal must be the safety and welfare of our entire Louisiana community, including our employees and players.

While WE all are not strangers to adapting to emergency situations, this one is unprecedented, very fluid and subject to change. We continue to monitor state and federal officials for new information on how to proceed and will be communicating our plans to resume claims office access as the situation changes.

Be safe and take care of yourselves. Let’s stay connected as we all work through this together.
