The premier multistate game offers the world's largest starting jackpot of $20 million which keeps growing until it's won, plus many other ways to win -- including the Power Play multiplier!
HOW TO PLAY 1. Choose one of the three following options to play Powerball:
- On a Powerball playslip, mark five numbers from 1 through 59 and one number from 1 through 39, using black or blue ink only. You can play up to 5 different sets of numbers on each playslip (A - E). Each Powerball play costs $1.
- Mark the Quick Pick (QP) box to have your Powerball numbers randomly generated for you on each board (A-E). A Powerball play slip lets you choose Quick Pick for the first set of numbers, the Powerball number or both sets of numbers.
- Ask the retailer for Quick Pick for your Powerball numbers -- up to 10 plays on one ticket.
2. You may play the same sets of numbers for 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, or 20 consecutive drawings by marking the appropriate MULTIDRAW box. Or, when purchasing a Powerball Quick Pick, ask the retailer for the number of drawings you want to play, up to 20 drawings.
3. Add Power Play. Multiply Your Nonjackpot Prize Up to 5 Times! For an additional $1 per play per draw, mark the Power Play box on the playslip or ask the retailer for Power Play when purchasing your Powerball Quick Pick.
Check your playslip carefully Powerball tickets cannot be cancelled.
How Power Play Works
For an additional $1 per play per drawing, players can purchase the Power Play option to multiply their nonjackpot winnings up to 5 times! During the Powerball drawing, a Power Play multiplier is randomly selected from a field of 2-5. Each Power Play multiplier (2X, 3X, 4X and 5X) has an equal chance of being selected. Power Play purchasers will have their nonjackpot winnings multiplied by that number. The 5X multiplier will always apply to match-5 prizes, when the Power Play option is purchased, for a $1 million prize. In accordance with game rules, all set prizes and Power Play prizes, including the match-5 prize, may become pari-mutuel if claims exceed available prize funds. For Power Play prizes, see the chart below.
Jackpot Prize
The advertised Powerball jackpot represents an estimate of the annuity amount, which is paid in 30 graduated annual installments that will increase by 4 percent each year by a percentage set out in the Powerball game directive. The first installment is paid at the time the prize is claimed. Winners also have the option to take a one-time lump sum payment equal to the cash value of the jackpot prize pool. The cash value represents the amount of money the Lottery would have invested to provide the 30-installment annuity option. Visit Powerball's Web site for the cash value of the current jackpot.
Jackpot prizes will be available for payment after the 15th calendar day following the drawing, and winners have 60 days from the date of claim to decide on a payment option. Jackpot prizes are pari-mutuel and are divided equally among all jackpot-winning tickets. All prize payments are subject to federal and state tax withholding as required by law.
THE DRAWING
Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday. Make sure you buy your tickets for each Powerball drawing by 9 p.m. on the day of the drawing. Tickets purchased after 9 p.m. on drawing nights will be valid for the next drawing(s). Powerball winning numbers are displayed on participating television stations every Wednesday and Saturday night and updated on this website.

* The 5X multiplier will always apply to match-5 prizes, when the Power Play option is purchased.
Power Play does not apply to the Jackpot Prize or the Match 5 Bonus Prize. In accordance with game rules, Power Play prizes, including the match-5 prize, may become pari-mutuel if claims exceed available prize funds. | | Match 5 Bonus
Whenever the jackpot reaches a new all-time high, its prize pool can grow by no more than $25 million. Any prize money collected in excess of $25 million will fund the Match 5 Bonus prize pool, which will accumulate until there is a jackpot winner. At that time, the Match 5 Bonus will be divided equally and paid in a single cash payment to all match 5 winners during that same drawing. If there are no match 5 winners, the bonus will be paid to all "match 4 + Powerball" winners and so on. The Match 5 Bonus is not multiplied by the Power Play but is paid in addition to any other Powerball or Power Play prize won.
