Kara played one ticket as a "straight" set, which meant that her numbers had to match the numbers drawn in exact order to win $500 on a $1 play. 

She played the other ticket as a "straight/box" set, which meant that her numbers could match the numbers drawn in any order to win a prize or in exact order to win $330 on a $1 play.


She purchased her winning tickets at Breaux Mart on Lapalco Boulevard in Gretna.  She used a relative's license plate when choosing her numbers.
