Unclaimed Powerball Prizes Set to Expire March 21 and March 25

As of today, no one has stepped forward to claim either of two Powerball prizes set to expire in March.

A $10,000 Louisiana Lottery Powerball prize won on Sept. 22, 2012, expires March 21, 2013. The ticket was purchased at Magnolia Discount on Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans. The winning ticket matched four of the five whiteball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number. The winning numbers for the Sept. 22 drawing were 02 - 16 - 18 - 40 - 42 and the Powerball number was 33.

A second winning Powerball ticket worth $10,008 expires March 25, 2013 and was purchased at Birdies Food & Fuel #13 on Hwy. 44 in Reserve for the Sept. 26, 2012 drawing. This winning ticket matched four of the five whiteball numbers drawn and the red Powerball number on one play to win $10,000. The ticket also matched the red Powerball number on two separate plays to win $8, for a total of $10,008. The winning numbers for the Sept. 26 drawing were 13 - 26 - 39 - 41 - 42 and the Powerball number was 10.

The holders of the winning tickets have until 5 p.m. on the date of expiration to claim the prizes, subject to the Lottery's hours of operation. Winnings are subject to applicable federal and state tax withholdings.  Prizes greater than $600 may be claimed at any of the Lottery's five regional offices located throughout the state or at Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge.

"We look forward to the winners coming forward to claim their prizes.  In the meantime, the individuals should treat the tickets as cash," said Lottery President Rose Hudson.  "It is also a good idea to sign the back of the ticket for security purposes."

Winners of the Lottery's draw-style games must claim their prize within 180 days of the drawing.  After prizes have passed their redemption deadlines, they are deposited into the Lottery's unclaimed prize fund, which is returned to players in the form of increased payouts on scratch-off games and player promotions.

Ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age.  The Lottery encourages responsible play and urges anyone or friends of anyone with a gambling problem to call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.  A list of large unclaimed prizes set to expire in the next 90 days can be found on the Lottery's website at www.louisianalottery.com/unclaimedprizes
