During Powerball Frenzy, Kenner Man Collects Lotto Jackpot Prize While Louisiana-and the nation-focused on the record $587.5 million Powerball jackpot last week, Arthur Blanco collected his $921,327 Lotto jackpot prize from the Nov. 24 drawing.
After realizing that his ticket matched all six numbers in the Lotto drawing, Blanco waited a few days to consult with his brother. By the time Blanco visited Lottery headquarters in Baton Rouge to claim his prize, the Powerball frenzy had begun.
The 53-year-old Kenner resident received $644,988.90 after taxes. A loyal Lotto player, Blanco said he picked his own numbers for the game. He purchased the winning ticket at Shop-N-Go on Williams Boulevard in Kenner. The store will receive a one-time selling bonus of $9,213, which is one percent of the prize.
Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help. For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing.
Lotto is the Louisiana Lottery's flagship game with a cash jackpot that starts at $250,000. Lotto drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday except for Christmas Day. More information about other Lotto winners can be found in the "Meet Our Winners" section of the Lottery's website, www.louisianalottery.com.
