One Houma resident got a huge surprise after seeing news that the winning ticket for the April 19 drawing of Louisiana Lottery’s Lotto jackpot was purchased in his area. The 52-year-old checked his ticket at 4 a.m. and “almost had a heart attack” after finding out that he was the winner of $1,499,022.

The jackpot winning ticket was purchased by Robert Liebkemann Jr. at Shop Rite #46 in Houma and claimed on April 21 at the Lottery’s headquarters. This was the second big winning ticket purchased in Houma this month. An Easy 5 jackpot ticket winning $50,000 during the April 15 drawing was sold at Nocko’s Inc. less than a week before.

Liebkemann describes the 10 quick pick plays he purchased to be the “best $10 I ever spent.” The winning numbers were 19-24-30-32-33-35.

Liebkemann received $1,049,317.50 after state and federal taxes were withheld. Shop Rite #46 will also receive a one-time selling bonus of $14,990 which is 1 percent of the prize.

Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.

For security purposes, the Lottery strongly encourages players to sign the back of their tickets immediately after purchasing. More information about Lotto and other jackpot winners can be found on the Lottery’s website, www.louisianalottery.com.
