BATON ROUGE – Wendell Stanga was in disbelief when he checked the numbers on his Louisiana Lottery Lotto ticket after the Aug. 20 drawing and saw that he won the $1.1 million jackpot prize.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Stanga when he realized that his ticket was the jackpot winner. “I had to check it a few times just to be sure.”

The 65-year-old Ponchatoula resident’s winning ticket matched all six numbers to win the $1,126,155 Lotto jackpot prize, which he claimed Thursday at Louisiana Lottery headquarters. The winning numbers were 03-11-16-21-31-32.

Stanga received $788,308.50 after state and federal tax withholdings. The winning ticket was sold at Town Crier #4 on Pine Street in Ponchatoula. The store received a one-time selling bonus of $11,261.55 which is 1 percent of the prize.

Lottery ticket purchasers must be at least 21 years of age. Draw-style game tickets must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. Anyone who may have a gambling problem or friends and family of anyone with a gambling problem should call toll free 1-877-770-7867 for help.
